Dear Laura,
Several years ago when we first met, my husband and Master to be had me read the MP series. Now I do the same with any newbie I meet (Top or bottom) who wants to know how to learn more and who seems to care enough to also learn what I've come to call the "spirit of good D/s". Maybe it's snobby of me but I do have my opinions about quality of spirit there but clearly you do too. My little sister is the most recent to receive your books as a gift from me. Turns out all three of us girls are kinky (and only the middle one a Dom) – who would have known?
The reason I write you is to see if you ever did begin or finish the idea of writing a bio of Chris Parker. Sir and I had the pleasure of hearing you speak in San Jose about 3 or 4 years ago and recall you saying it was something you were considering. I don't see if for sale so I assume it's not out but...is the dream still alive?
Finally, just a big thank you for taking the time and energy required to articulate what is in the hearts and minds of so many and to do it with such care and respect. Someday when I'm a philanthropist I'll create a foundation that can fund you getting to quit your day job :)
with gratitude,
Heather
I can hear the spot now on NPR in that slightly hushed and highly respectable voice; "brought to you by the Marketplace Foundation, dedicated to a more disciplined, service-oriented and patient world."
Dear Heather:
Thank you for such a kind letter!
I am indeed planning to write PARKER – and I’m still not sure if it’ll be his biography or his autobiography. But I still have some other writing projects – including my current one, The Inheritor. But here’s a sneak peak at some of my other plans:
Slaves of the Marketplace. Once the Inheritor is finished, I’m turning my attention to a collection of short stories, featuring what I call “the B cast” of the Marketplace slaves. You know what I mean – the walk-on roles, people like Dr. Greta and Leon (both first appearing in The Slave), Tara from The Trainer, and the slaves who attended The Reunion. I’m co-authoring that book with my wife, Karen, who was one of my featured writers in Book 4, The Academy.
“The Owner Book.” Sometimes my fans tell me they love my books, but they think my Owners are assholes. I disagree – my Owners are arrogant, confident, and very self-assured. Okay, at times they are assholes. But a book about the world of Owners gives me a chance to show off my Sidney Sheldon/Jeffrey Archer side, the one that needs that guy with the big movie voice who always narrates by starting out “in a world where powerful families buy and sell empires – and people….” Yeah, I’m going to write my Carpetbaggers, with kudos to Harold Robbins.
Anderson’s Line. Ever since I created the Marketplace, I had a clear idea as to when the Marketplace started in the United States. This novel will be that historical tale, set in the Reconstruction.
And then…. PARKER. The biography. Or the autobiography. I haven’t decided that yet.
Until then, keep reading! And yes, this answer is "brought to you by the Marketplace Foundation, dedicated to a more disciplined, service-oriented and patient world." With a nifty BJ Liederman theme song.
