Classes and Presentations

Laura's most frequently requested presentations can be found here and she keeps an active tour schedule around the United States and Canada. Her notorious 1995 essay, Unsafe at Any Speed, or, Safe, Sane and Consensual, My Fanny was first presented at the University of Washington, and she has also been a featured speaker at Columbia University, Rutgers University, the New School, and New York University as well as at s/m and leather conferences.

Still Unsafe at Any Speed, but Making Good Time was presented as the 2005 Keynote Speech at South Plains Leatherfest in Dallas, Texas. Laura has also been interviewed several times about her writing, and about herself. Her favorite interviews are at "Laura's Rants...".

Here's how to do it!
Laura's calendar gets filled quickly, so here are a few hints on how to get your group's request more notice!

Figure on a budget of $1,000-$1,500. This is needed to cover:

• Airfare: You must cover airfare for Laura. (Note: Laura travels with either her spouse or her Daddy for some of her co-presented workshops. Check her workshop list for details!)
  
• Hotel stay: The hotel must have high-speed internet access. (sorry, Laura doesn't stay in personal homes)
  
• In-town travel: If a local driver isn't available, costs to cover a taxi or rental car is required.
  
• Speaking fee: Laura charges $200 for a speaking fee.
  

• An arrangement with a local store to have a book-signing, or to sell Laura's books at your event! Laura likes keeping local businesses happy.
  
• Local cross-promotion with other groups, interviews with alternative papers/radio, or book-signings at a local bookstore.
  
• Additional enticements you believe would make the visit enjoyable for your group and would promote Laura's visibility in your community. (Groups in the past have done pod-casts, special dinners with their board members, and internet radio interviews.)
• Pay for a companion to accompany Laura. Laura likes to travel with either her spouse or her Daddy, but, this is not required.
